Case Study: Database and Fulfillment

Problem: Part of the project requirements for a well-known national delivery corporation called for all undeliverable, returned mail to be received by MCS and reported back to the organization for database updating.

In order to accommodate this, MCS needed to enter the names and addresses from the returned mail, run a merge/purge on the original file and return those matching records to the client in their native format.

MCS Solution: MCS proposed assigning a sequence number to the file which would appear above the name and address on the mail panel. In doing so, we saved the client $0.10-$0.15 per piece in data entry cost. Instead of entering 3-4 lines of address per returned letter, we only needed to enter the sequence number for the match file. The savings realized by the client on 1.5 million outgoing pieces was approximately $6,750.
